Au Ver à Soie fly-fishing department is back
Before the First World War, Au Ver à Soie was considered as the most important French manufacturer in natural silk threads for fishing.
Jean and Robert Boucher, the two young men of the family who unfortunately disappeared during first war, used to try their products on the North coasts of Brittany and more precisely in the small fishing port of Dahouët, where their boat dropped anchor.
The death of these two men, killed in action, stopped the development of theses threads and Auguste Boucher did not want to keep on developing nylon because it was going to supplant natural silk in this kind of applications.
However, the idea of making new items for fishers was never totally given up and Au Ver à Soie served some specialists who liked to make their threads to fish trout for example.
Marc Boucher, current Manager of Au ver à Soie, who has also himself a passion for fishing, wants to bring back to life some specialities.
That’s why Au Ver à Soie starts the revival of this department with products for “fly-fishing”, a very demanding discipline in term of know-how and which uses natural silk threads made by this firm since 5 generations.
To achieve this, he has gathered a team of specialists and impassioned fishers, Mr Michel Rigault, former technical adviser of the famous firm “Pezon et Michel”, responsible for development at Au Ver à Soie and impassioned competitor.
Marc Boucher has decided to distribute these products via Internet and also through a network of specialized retailers. This is a new concept : “The artists of fishing chose Au Ver à Soie’s silk”.
Au Ver à Soie is, as you probably know, a 100% French industrial firm.
